The mission of the Purchasing Department is to purchase needed goods and services, within the approved budget, and obtain efficiencies and economies of total county expenditures. Our goal is to ensure fair and open competition and compliance with all laws and regulations to provide the best value to the taxpayers for the goods and services required to run the county.
The Purchasing Department provides a source for the purchasing of goods and services, formal and informal bid and solicitation development, vendor contact, contracting, strategic planning for County purchases and general problem solving.
We promote the use of sustainable purchasing methods to integrate environmental considerations into all stages of the purchasing process with the goal of reducing the impact on human health and the environment, life cycle costing and long-term, ongoing vendor relationships, whenever feasible, to ensure the best services and products are provided for the community.
Pricing and costs are important criteria for product and service selection; however, quality, service, professional qualifications, references, past experience, delivery schedule, sustainability, warranties and guarantees, consistency with existing stock, and inventory are also important factors in selection and contract awards.
Routt County advocates open and fair competition among vendors, suppliers, and contractors to provide the best goods and services for Routt County and its citizens. The county prohibits discrimination based on political affiliation, race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, handicap, disability, veteran status, or genetic information in all employment activities, business transactions, purchases, and contracts.
