Routt County and Steamboat Creates Looking for Local Artists

Routt County is excited to continue our partnership with Steamboat Creates to identify, select and install public art that will decorate the interior of the new Health and Human Services Building at Oak Street and 6th Street in downtown Steamboat Springs. The County is confident that Steamboat Creates will utilize their connection to the art community and sponsors to bring forth a fair and equitable selection process that will highlight local artists’ talents.

Steamboat Creates is inviting artists to submit proposals for artwork to be showcased inside the new Routt County Health and Human Services Building, with a theme of “Being Human.”

“While the panoramic mountain photos that can be found in both the County Commissioner’s Office and Centennial Hall where Steamboat Springs City Council meets are great, the hope is this art would focus more on the human condition,” said Julie Kennedy, Routt County Purchasing Manager.

A curatorial committee composed of a diverse and representative group of community members, arts professionals, government and creative district committee members will review proposals.

Proposals are due October 20, 2022 by midnight. Artwork should be ready for installation by mid-April.

Find the RFP and all details on the Steamboat Creates website.
