2021 Road Closure

Routt County Replacing Culverts On County Road 33 Near Cow Creek Area

Starting on July 12, 2021, the general contractor selected by Routt County will begin construction on one of three culverts under County Road 33 that convey Cow Creek under the road.  The area impacted will be from the intersection of CR 33 and 33A to a mile south of the intersection.  Crews will start with the culvert on the far south end.  The road will remain closed while the south culvert is being replaced.  Please respect all road closures as we work to improve the drainage in this area.

Anyone trying to access the other side of the construction site should use CR 41 to CR 43 or CR 179 to CR 33B.

Morgan Creek Fire

The area closure pertains to all public use, and utilizes National Forest boundaries, roads, trails, and natural features such as lakes, creeks, and mountains. Specific area closure boundaries are detailed within the Forest Order.

Roughly, the closed area goes from the National Forest boundary on the west near Clark, Colo. in Routt County; north to Big Agnes Mountain; east over the Continental Divide to the National Forest boundary in Jackson County near Red Canyon; and south to Mount Ethel.

Closures include a large section in the middle of the Mount Zirkel Wilderness, a section of the Continental Divide Trail, all Forest Service recreation sites along the Seedhouse corridor, including campgrounds, trailheads, and the Seedhouse Guard Station. Forest Road 400 is closed where County Road 64 enters National Forest. Forest Roads 440, 442, and their associated spur roads are also closed.
