Property Tax Notice

Important information included with Routt County 2023 Tax Notices can be found here.

Property tax notices are mailed before the end of January to the owner of record which is the name and mailing address listed on the Tax Roll at the time of the assessor’s certification. The Tax Roll is prepared and maintained by the County Assessor.

FAILURE TO RECEIVE A PROPERTY TAX NOTICE DOES NOT EXEMPT THE TAXPAYER FROM TIMELY PAYMENT OF TAXES DUE.  C.R.S. 39-10-103, as amended.

If you do not receive a tax notice by February 15th, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at 970.870.5555 or visit the Treasurer's Tax Information website to print a duplicate statement.

If your mortgage company pays your property taxes, please do not make payment. Colorado law requires the Routt County Treasurer to mail a notice of property taxes to each owner of record, as their name and address are listed on the tax roll certified by the Assessor, even though a mortgage company may be responsible for making the payment.   If you escrow your taxes (tax is included in your mortgage payment), you will need to make a copy of your tax bill and send it to your mortgage company. We do not provide duplicate copies for mortgage companies as per Colorado Revised Statutes.

As part of our office's commitment to being environmentally friendly and simplifying tax payment processes for our residents, Routt County offers an electronic tax notice option that allows residents to receive their future tax notices electronically to a designated email address. To sign up for electronic notifications, please complete an address change form.

Electronic Notification and Delivery of Tax Notices

As part of our office's commitment to being environmentally friendly and simplifying tax payment processes for our residents, Routt County offers an electronic tax notice option that allows residents to receive their future tax notices electronically to a designated email address.

If you wish to participate in this program and would like to have property tax notices sent electronically, please complete this  form.

The Colorado State General Assembly enacted legislation in 2010 allowing County Treasurers to send electronic notification to each person whose name appears on the tax list and warrant a statement or true and accurate notice of electronic statement availability, showing the total amount of taxes payable.

A taxpayer may request to receive statements and/or notification by electronic transmission. The taxpayer shall submit along with the request an electronic address to which the treasurer may send future statements. If a taxpayer subsequently requests to cease the electronic transmission of such statements and requests to receive future statements by mail, the treasurer shall comply with the written request.

Failure of a taxpayer to receive the electronic statement shall not preclude collection by the treasurer of the amount of taxes due from and payable by the taxpayer.
